What does an open seat cost you every week?
An open role costs you more than the recruiting fee. Someone covers the work, waits for care, or stops a service. We ask what is falling behind and who is carrying it. Use your own figures to compare the cost of waiting with the cost of hiring.
The seat is costing you every week.
Overtime, diverted patients, a stretched team and a schedule held together by favors.
The posting brought the wrong people.
Applicants arrive, but the person who has done this exact work is employed and not looking.
You are the one chasing.
Screening calls, no-shows and follow-ups land on the desk of someone with a facility to run.
What does this hire really come down to?
A pediatric dental day may include preventive visits, restorative treatment, an anxious child, and a parent who needs more discussion. You need a dentist who can make sound case decisions within your office scope and schedule. We recruit permanent pediatric dentists on a contingency basis.
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.
Define the actual work before reviewing résumés. One practice may need a dentist for preventive care, restorations, behavior guidance, and emergency evaluations. Another may need someone who assesses cases for sedation, coordinates hospital general anesthesia days, and works within referral boundaries. Those roles share a title, but they call for different experience.
Ask how the doctor works with your team. Clarify who discusses treatment estimates, prepares hospital documentation, and handles a parent’s follow-up questions. A dentist accustomed to longer consultations may not suit short restorative blocks.
What do we check before you see anyone?
State dental license. We confirm an active dental license in the job state or eligibility for licensure. We ask about application status, disclosed disciplinary history, relocation plans, and timing that may affect a start date. ABPD status. We confirm whether the dentist is an American Board of Pediatric Dentistry diplomate or board eligible.
- We ask where the candidate stands in that process and whether your practice treats board status as preferred.
- Sedation background. We ask which sedation levels the dentist has worked with and what they did during those cases. We ask how they decide whether a case can proceed in office, should be rescheduled, or belongs in another setting.
- Hospital general anesthesia privileges. We verify reported sedation and hospital GA privileges where applicable. We ask whether privileges are current, expired, transferable, or subject to a new hospital review. Prior hospital work does not provide access to your chosen facility.
- Behavior management. We ask for an example of a visit that changed when a child could not continue planned treatment. We want the doctor’s decision, their communication with the parent and team, and the reason for stopping, rescheduling, or referring.
- Parent and team communication. We ask how the dentist explains options when a parent disagrees or needs more information. We also ask how they handle concerns raised by an assistant, hygienist, general dentist, or specialist before care begins.
Where do we find them, and why would they move?
Our source pools include pediatric dentistry residents, pediatric dentists in multi-specialty DSOs, and clinicians from FQHCs. Residents may be considering their first permanent position. Experienced dentists may move for a different case mix, hospital access, schedule structure, or family location.
We describe the work as it operates in your practice. That includes office procedures, sedation scope, hospital relationships, referral boundaries, assistant coverage, and consultation expectations. Clear details help candidates decide whether to enter a conversation before you spend time interviewing.
Which mistakes stall the search?
A common mistake is choosing from production history alone without asking how the dentist handles a child who cannot continue treatment that day. Another is assuming hospital GA experience means current privileges or access to your preferred hospital or surgical setting.
Leaving parent communication out of the interview, then finding the dentist’s consultation style conflicts with your office process.
How would we run the search for this opening?
Tell us which procedures stay in office, which cases go to referral, and whether the role includes hospital general anesthesia days. We screen credentials, work history, move timing, and role fit before presenting candidates. Interview finalists against the same case mix and parent scenarios.

We use those details during screening.

How can we assess fit with assistants and front office staff?
Use structured interview questions or an observation process allowed by your policies. Ask how the candidate handles an anxious late arrival, a parent needing more explanation, and an assistant raising a concern before treatment. Ask how they respond when a child cannot tolerate planned care or when an assistant raises a concern before treatment starts.
How long does a search for a pediatric dentist with hospital privileges take?
Timing varies by market, hospital access, and whether you need current privileges or prior hospital GA work. We ask about privilege status early, so hospital review timing is visible before interviews begin.
Can a candidate start before hospital privileges are transferred or granted?
That depends on your scope of work, hospital policies, license status, and credentialing process. Your practice should confirm which duties, if any, the dentist may perform before hospital approval.
What is the fee structure for this search?
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. Terms are finalized in writing before outreach, and the agreement sets fee and replacement terms for standard searches.
How do you screen parent communication?
We ask for specific examples involving fear, disagreement, consent discussions, and follow-up questions. We listen for clear options, appropriate boundaries, and a practical response when a family conversation takes longer than planned.
What should you send us about this role?
Send us the role, where the person will work and what needs to change with this hire. We will ask about the work, not just the title. Share any license or schedule limits that could rule someone out before we begin the search.
Tell us which procedures need coverage, whether hospital GA work is part of the role, and where interviews have stalled. We will build a focused pediatric dentist search around those decisions.
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

Which other positions in this family should you consider?
What do you get at each step of the search?
Our process for every search: calibrate the seat with you, map the market, research the real people, reach out to each one personally, qualify them in live conversation, then hand you a short list with a written brief on each person and support through the offer.
Search Calibration
You get an agreed brief: the work, reporting line, credentials, schedule, and offer you can make.
Market Mapping
You get a search aimed at relevant backgrounds, including people working now who have not applied.
Professional Contact Intelligence
We check appropriate ways to reach the people identified for your search. You do not have to chase them yourself.
Persistent Personalized Outreach
We explain your actual job and follow up with people who may consider a conversation.
Live Candidate Qualification
You see people we have spoken with about the work, interest, and practical fit, not an unread resume pile.
Candidate Intelligence and Process Support
You get a written brief and support through interviews and offer discussions. You make the hiring decision.
What if a candidate receives a counteroffer?
We ask why the person wants to move and discuss competing decisions before an offer. A counteroffer can still change their choice. Keep the duties and offer clear rather than assuming more money settles every concern. Tell us early if parts of your offer cannot change, so the candidate hears it from us first.
What are the replacement terms?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement. Ask us to walk through those terms before you sign, so you know how a replacement would work for your opening and who would start it.
What do we not do in a standard permanent search?
We do not bill standard contingency search by the hour or simply repost your job. Temporary coverage is a separate arrangement. Any retainer or different engagement must be agreed, not assumed. Tell us early if you need coverage while the permanent search runs.
