How do you choose the right healthcare role to recruit?

Healthcare Headhunters recruits across clinical professions, support roles, and leadership. Use the families to find the work you need covered. A page title should lead you to a useful hiring discussion, not make you force your opening into a generic executive category.

Physician appointments begin with the specialty and practice arrangement. Call, case mix, and the setting affect the search. An outpatient practice and a hospital service can use a similar physician title while asking the person to do different work.

Nursing searches begin with the unit and recent bedside experience. A staff ICU nurse, a charge nurse, and a nurse manager do not have the same responsibilities. Decide whether the opening is patient care, shift leadership, or department management before comparing candidates.

Allied health titles often identify a modality or clinical discipline. A CT opening differs from an MRI opening. A laboratory generalist differs from a section lead. We ask which work the person must perform and which credentials apply in your state and setting.

Practice and department leaders need a clear account of what they will own. Ask who controls staffing, scheduling, budgets, and clinical decisions. Some titles sound senior but have little authority. The candidate should know that before considering a move.

The positions index includes titles that employers use differently. If your own title is not shown, send us the duties. We can discuss the nearest role and the checks that matter. You do not need to invent a new title to explain a different job.

Why are physicians and nursing roles listed before C-suite jobs?

The site shows the full healthcare hiring scope rather than treating every opening as executive search. Clinical and specialist pages help a facility find its actual seat. Senior leadership remains available in its own family.

How do you handle a title with several common names?

We compare the work rather than count labels as different jobs. The role pages describe alternate names where they refer to the same work. If the responsibilities differ, the search brief needs to explain that difference.

What if your facility uses an unusual internal title?

Send the job duties and reporting line. We can discuss the candidate background without requiring the title to match our menu exactly. Local naming should not stop a clear conversation about the opening.

The Six-Step Search · Fee terms · Editorial policy · Positions index

What are the fee and payment terms?

No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. The signed agreement sets the fee and when it is due, along with the placement terms. We agree those terms before the search starts and before any candidate introductions. Temporary or contract coverage is a separate arrangement.

How long will it take to see a short list?

That depends on the job, schedule, available people, and what your employer can offer. We discuss those constraints before outreach and update you as candidates respond. We do not promise a fixed shortlist date. We check the job brief before arranging interviews. Tell us which parts of the role you can change.

What if a candidate receives a counteroffer?

We ask why the person wants to move and discuss competing decisions before an offer. A counteroffer can still change their choice. Keep the duties and offer clear rather than assuming more money settles every concern. Tell us early if parts of your offer cannot change, so the candidate hears it from us first.

What are the replacement terms?

We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement. Ask us to walk through those terms before you sign, so you know how a replacement would work for your opening and who would start it.

What do we not do in a standard permanent search?

We do not bill standard contingency search by the hour or simply repost your job. Temporary coverage is a separate arrangement. Any retainer or different engagement must be agreed, not assumed. Tell us early if you need coverage while the permanent search runs.
