What do we recruit for in PE-backed healthcare platforms?

We recruit leaders who run work across multiple sites and specialties. That can include physician executives, operations leaders, medical directors, finance leaders, and quality leaders. We ask about the reporting line, the locations involved, and which decisions stay local versus move to the platform level.

We also look at who owns each part of the day. One person may handle site issues and manager follow-up. Another may advise physicians, investors, or board members. That split shapes the search and the people we approach.

What does a normal workday look like in this setting?

A workday often starts with site calls, staffing gaps, schedule changes, and unresolved issues from the prior day. The person may review metrics, speak with practice leaders, and check progress on integration work or a new location launch. We ask what happens before noon and what gets escalated.

The rest of the day can move between local problems and platform reporting. That may mean speaking with physicians, meeting with operations, and preparing updates for owners or finance leaders. The right background depends on which part of the day carries the most weight.

Which backgrounds matter most for this search?

We look for people who have worked across several practices, regions, or specialties. Experience with add-on integration, de novo openings, and centralized operations matters here. We ask where they inherited work, what they changed, and what stayed in the local market.

These platforms also need someone who can speak with physicians without losing the business side. Useful backgrounds often come from multisite physician groups, healthcare services, specialty networks, or investor-backed organizations. We screen for direct work with board reporting and cross-site leadership.

How do we judge fit for integration and growth?

We ask how the candidate brought separate groups into one operating model. That can include shared processes, common reporting, and cleaner handoffs between local and central teams. We want examples with dates, locations, and the person’s actual responsibility.

If the role supports growth, we ask about opening new locations or adding practices. If the role supports integration, we ask what was merged first and what could not change. Those details show how the person works when the pace picks up.

What concerns do buyers raise before starting a search?

Many buyers want to know whether a candidate can work with both clinicians and finance leaders. They also want to know who handles local friction, site follow-up, and escalations. We raise those questions early so the search stays tight.

Reporting discipline comes up often as well. We ask about scorecards, meeting cadence, and how the leader shares problems upward. That helps us avoid people who only know one side of the role.

How do we run the search for this setting?

We start with the operating model, the sites, and the change you need after hire. Then we map people who have done similar work and speak with them directly. You get a written brief so you can compare candidates on the same facts.

We arrange locum tenens, travel and contract coverage on request. Credentialing, licensing and malpractice coverage are confirmed per engagement before anyone starts.

What else should you ask about this search?

Can you recruit for both integration leaders and site operators?

Yes, some searches call for someone who standardizes reporting and central processes. Others need a leader who stays close to local operations and physicians. We sort that out before outreach starts.

What if the role includes equity or rollover?

We ask about the full offer structure before we contact candidates. Some people will want to talk about ownership terms as part of the decision. We keep that discussion tied to the actual package.

Do you work on new platform launches as well as add-ons?

Yes, a de novo build usually calls for different experience than an add-on search. We ask about site opening work, early hiring, and the first operating rhythm before we begin.

Who should we involve from our side at the start?

Bring the person who knows the work, not only the title. That may be a physician-owner, COO, CFO, or operating leader. We need to know who will interview, who decides, and what problem this hire must solve.

What are the fee and payment terms?

No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. The signed agreement sets the fee and when it is due, along with the placement terms. We agree those terms before the search starts and before any candidate introductions. Temporary or contract coverage is a separate arrangement.

How long will it take to see a short list?

That depends on the job, schedule, available people, and what your employer can offer. We discuss those constraints before outreach and update you as candidates respond. We do not promise a fixed shortlist date. We check the job brief before arranging interviews. Tell us which parts of the role you can change.

What if a candidate receives a counteroffer?

We ask why the person wants to move and discuss competing decisions before an offer. A counteroffer can still change their choice. Keep the duties and offer clear rather than assuming more money settles every concern. Tell us early if parts of your offer cannot change, so the candidate hears it from us first.

What are the replacement terms?

We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement. Ask us to walk through those terms before you sign, so you know how a replacement would work for your opening and who would start it.

What do we not do in a standard permanent search?

We do not bill standard contingency search by the hour or simply repost your job. Temporary coverage is a separate arrangement. Any retainer or different engagement must be agreed, not assumed. Tell us early if you need coverage while the permanent search runs.
