What does the hire need to do?
Send us the role, where the person will work and what needs to change with this hire. We will ask about the work, not just the title. Share any license or schedule limits that could rule someone out before we begin the search.

What does an FQHC or community health center leader handle each day?
You want someone who keeps clinic work moving and stays close to the board. They review schedules, patient access issues, staffing gaps, payer questions, and grant reporting. They also answer to a patient-majority board and to federal program rules that shape daily choices.
A strong search asks how they handled open sessions, walk-ins, and handoffs between medical, dental, and behavioral health teams. We also ask who signed off on policy, who spoke to the board, and who handled the work when a clinic day changed fast.
Which leadership backgrounds fit this setting best?
We look for people who have worked in health centers, community clinics, or public systems with similar oversight. They should know how a sliding fee schedule affects front desk work, billing conversations, and patient questions. They also need comfort with underserved patients and mixed funding streams.
For executive seats, we look at who led service lines, site managers, or operations teams. For medical director work, we ask about panel management, provider support, and board reporting. For physician and advanced practice roles, we ask how they manage patient flow, team coverage, and referral follow-up.
How do HRSA and UDS duties affect the hire?
These duties shape what the leader watches during the week. UDS reporting, sliding fee review, and board reporting are not side tasks. They affect policies, staffing, and finance choices. A candidate should speak clearly about what they owned and what they sent to finance, compliance, or the board.
We ask where the data came from, who checked it, and who corrected it when figures did not match. We also ask how they handled reviews tied to grant programs and how they kept the team informed without slowing clinic work.
How do we assess mission fit without making it vague?
Mission fit here means more than a general interest in community service. The person should be ready for busy clinics, practical limits, and patient needs that do not fit a neat template. We ask for examples of real decisions made with limited rooms, uneven staffing, or referral delays.
We also ask how they speak with patients who face language, transport, cost, or trust barriers. That includes whether they can lead staff through a hard day without losing focus on respect, follow-through, and the center’s role in the community.
What do we need from you before we begin?
Send the role, the site or sites, the reporting line, and the work that must change. Tell us what this person owns and what stays with finance, HR, or compliance. If there are schedule limits, clinic hours, or board expectations, we should know before outreach starts.
If the opening is a replacement, a new site, or growth, say that too. It helps us ask better questions and speak to the right people. You do not need a polished brief. You do need the facts that shape the day.
How do searches move from first call to offer?
We start by learning the seat, the setting, and the decisions that belong to the hire. Then we reach people with the right background and speak with them directly. After that, we give you a short list with plain notes on work history, scope, and any concerns that came up.
If you want locums, travel or contract support, we handle that separately. We arrange locum tenens, travel and contract coverage on request. Credentialing, licensing and malpractice coverage are confirmed per engagement before anyone starts. We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements.
What else should you ask about this search?
How do you screen for someone who can work with a patient-majority board?
We ask who they reported to and how they brought issues to a board or board committee. We also ask whether they can turn clinical or access problems into clear choices for nonclinical leaders. That helps you see if they can work in a board-governed setting without confusion.
What if our opening mixes medical, dental, and behavioral health work?
We ask where the candidate has worked across service lines and what they actually owned. A good fit should understand handoffs, shared schedules, and how one clinic day affects another team. If they only led one narrow unit, we surface that early.
Can you help when we need someone who knows sliding fee work?
Yes, we ask how they handled patient questions, front desk scripts, and billing follow-up tied to the sliding fee process. We also ask who trained the staff and who reviewed exceptions, so you can judge how much support the hire will need.
What should we share if our center has board, grant, or reporting pressure right now?
Tell us which work is urgent and which problems must not repeat. If reporting, site growth, or provider turnover is the issue, we should know that before outreach. It helps us speak to people who have seen that kind of pressure and can discuss it plainly.

What happens during your search?
Tell us who you need
We ask about the job, your team, the requirements and what you can offer.
We find and contact people
We speak with suitable people about their experience, interest and reasons for moving.
You meet the strongest candidates
We explain why we recommend each person and arrange introductions for your interviews.
We help you complete the hire
We help with feedback, the offer, notice and practical questions before the start.
How long will it take to meet candidates?
That depends on the job, schedule, pay and who is available. We keep you informed as people respond rather than promise a fixed date.
What if a candidate receives a counteroffer?
We ask why the person wants to leave and discuss other offers. A counteroffer can still change their decision. We help you work through the questions without promising an acceptance.
What are the replacement terms?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.
What is outside a permanent search?
We do not bill standard contingency recruitment by the hour or simply repost your job. Describe any other hiring arrangement so we can discuss whether we can help and agree terms separately.
